The Chit Chat thread

A month ago, I started "Talkin' Tuesday" where I would start up a new thread every Tuesday for just general chit chat and small "Twitterlike" posts where you don't want to start a whole new thread. They haven't gotten a lot of attention and I wonder if people think maybe they can only post there on Tuesday?

So I'm starting up a new thread with a more generic title. We'll just let this one run for a while. If it starts getting to be a lot of pages, I can always start a new one. Or we can just let it go and see how many pages long we can go. It can be the longest thread in the forum. Smile

So, what are you doing right now? Any quick thoughts to share? Jump in and post. The water's fine. Smile

I just dropped Jamie off at school and am hanging out with Josh. Going to try and get a little client work done if he lets me.

Wow, what a day. The kids never did nap. Well, Josh did for about 15 minutes but Jamie was up so I didn't exactly get a break. Hubby should be home soon from his meeting but then I have to be a whirlwind cleaner. Playgroup tomorrow and I got nothing done today. It's messier than it was this morning. Sigh. Gonna be a late night.

Hope your days were better,

Good morning, Coulee Region! Anyone got big plans for this chilly Wednesday? We have playgroup here, today, so I'm doing some last minute cleaning and then will have a crazy house with kids running around. After nap time today, I'm going to pick up some flyers I had printed out to advertise this site. Hopefully we'll pull in some new people from them.

Oh, man. Yesterday, when I asked my friend who's in playgroup with me if she was coming, she said she thought it was next week. I was positive it was today but was going to double check anyway. Then I forgot. Sad Well, I spent the morning cleaning and baking cookies and no one came. Suddenly I remembered I was going to check the calendar. And she was right. It _is_ next week. Argh!

I know it sounds silly to complain about cleaning the house for nothing, and I do love having the house clean. The thing is that the only way I can manage that with two kids is to send the older one to his room and lock the younger one up in the play yard. I really hate to basically abandon my kids for two hours to clean so the house usually only gets the bare minimum.

Sigh. Well, at least it's clean, now. Going off to play with my neglected children.

Good Morning!

I was informed 15 minutes before the bus was to arrive this morning that my son needed to take something to drink during state testing today so off we went to the little town store and got him a tea. Then raced home had to find a container to put it in because he can't take the can. The kids made the bus. I then showerd and ran to the bank to pick up the check to pay off my Sears Card. (Don't wanna pay the high interest and the promotional period is almost over) Then went home got some stuff ready for work and headed to work.

On my second cup of coffee ... mmmm yummy!

To be continued.....

Wow, Gina, that was quite a rushed morning! You actually went to the store and back in 15 minutes? I was thinking today that I wished you worked mornings but I'm thinking you don't wish that. LOL! It's just that I mostly listen to the radio in the mornings when I'm in the boys' room playing with them. By noon, it's time for lunch then nap time and then they get up and we go to the Y and then supper and baths and bed and then I try to get some work done and you'd be off the air by then anyway. I think I need to get one of those kitchen radios so we can listen during lunch. Smile

@louise95 - Eau Claire? I guess you decided to follow your family up there? I hope you'll still hang out here on CRO. Smile We're not that far away and you're still very welcome to stick around. Good luck with the move and let us know when you're settled in. Brrr. I would not want to move in the ccccold.

You folks hear that quiet? I do believe I actually have both children sleeping at the same time. Whoo hoo! Going to finish answering posts on here and then get some work done. Ah, the sound of slience...

You know, I make my little one help me clean. He loves to take a rag and spray water and clean it off. He also likes to vacuum, as long as it's the real vacuum and he doesn't get stuck in a corner (it's too heavy for him to take it back out of the corner..lol).

My older child is afraid of the vacuum. It always bothered me but now I actualy am glad of it. My younger has no fear of it and he gets in the way when I vacuum. LOL! Next time I'll let him try helping and see how that goes.

Getting a few posts answered here while Josh is occupied sitting on the table. Jamie's at school. Going to get a bit of work done until Josh gets too restless and needs my attention.

Been kind of quiet tonight. I'm working on one of my modules. Probably the only time I'll have this weekend to work on it. Headed to bed soon, though, so thought I'd pop in and say goodnight. Smile

Happy Saturday everyone. Wow, where did the day go? I put in a full day working on a module for a client. Pretty tired, now, but had to come check on my peeps. Been quiet around here today. Hope you all were off having fun. Smile

BTW, Gina, caught your cell phone talk when I went out to get supper. I totally agree! I don't have a cell phone, myself, and it drives me nuts when people use them inappropriately. In the bathroom is just gross. Please, no one ever call me when you're on the pot. I can wait. Really. Tongue

Filling out an application for OfficeMax in Eau Claire *hears the shotgun* let the race begin! Any job that makes job hunting look like a pleasant sport can't be good. Smile

OfficeMax doesn't sound too bad. Especially if you get an employee discount. Smile I spent too much time working fast food when I was your age. Now there's a sucky job. I had way too many minimum wage jobs until I finally too a CNA course and got a slightly better paying job for three years until I got married and moved out here. So totally BTDT on the whole job hunting thing.

I'm fiddling with the site a bit before bed. Anyone notice what I did? Smile

Well, you made your 666th post, I noticed that... umm... seemed like there was something different with the profiles... hey! the logo is smaller. Why?

Oh, man, 666? I didn't even notice that. Should have made another post last night. LOL!

Yep, I made the logo smaller. After I wrote this I also tightened up some of the margins on the front page and made the font smaller in a few places. As much as I like the logo, it really took up too much vertical space. It's important that people coming to the site for the first time be able to see more of the front page without scrolling than just the logo. Unfortunately, shrinking the height makes it also shrink the width so there's a lot of white space to the left unless you're running at 800x600 resolution (which not many people do anymore). I keep debating on putting something there. I know a lot of sites put ads in the header but I'm about 90% sure I don't want one there. I just don't like the looks of ads up there. So it will probably just stay empty.

A note on header size... If you're seeing the smaller logo but there's a big chunk of white underneath it, do a hard refresh on your browser (ctrl-r or ctrl-F5) to clear out your cache of that page. It seems to be caching the height on the header but not the logo and makes it look kind of funny.

Hey folks. Just sat down to a late lunch in front of the computer. Was out grocery shopping and buying Winter clothes for the kids.

If you like those steam in the bag vegggies, Festival has a surprise buy on them for $.89 each, limit 6. Makes them cost not much more than a can of veggies and saves the effort of opening the can. Wink

Mornin' everyone. Hope you all are having a quieter Monday than I am. Jamie has been screaming pretty much non stop all morning and is currently screaming that he hates me and his brother from his time out in the other room. Oh, the joys of 3.

I'm going to spend the morning attempting to get some cleaning done in between taking care of the kids. Did a lot of computer work this weekend and the house is feeling a bit neglected. Sad

What about you?

Got the cable guy here. When they did their update on Thursday something went wrong and the box stopped working. He said it was only the people who don't get Movies on Demand (had that option blocked) who were effected. Lucky me!! but at least it wasn't my DVR cause I have a lot of crap on that and was so disappointed when the lady on the phone told me I needed a new box. Went out to eat last night and Benji was very ill behaved for some reason. I think it's cause he has this nasty cold, cause he's not like this normally. Today is going to be a busy day in the afternoon.. daycare will be full besides having my own here...

Glad it wasn't your DVR. That's the downside to not using tapes, I guess.

Hope Benji feels better soon. Josh and Jamie both have a cold and it's not slowing them down any. In fact, I had to stop typing mid sentence to get him down off the arm of the couch again.

I've been shopping for printers this morning. I really want to get flyers made for the site. I was going to do some in black and white so I dragged our really heavy 11 year old printer upstairs. It's normally attached to the desktop and we print over the network but the desktop has been down since the hard drive died a few weeks ago. So I was going to just hook my laptop up to it. Only it turns out that laptops don't come with parallel ports anymore. Doh! So that idea is out. I really want a color printer, anyway. Paying $.99 to get a color page printed at Sir Speedy is really crazy when it only takes a few cents to print out at home. And doing it at home means I'll get just what I want, too. Smile

Now I just have to figure out which of these 50 bajillion printers to get and then get hubby to approve it...

I got some chocolate mint milk at Woodmans yesterday. Treating myself to a glass right now. It's really good. Tastes like drinking Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Yum! Only problem is that it's also really bad for you. 270 calories in an 8 ounce serving! Surprise So it's, um, rather like drinking Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies... A whole lot of them. Uneasy

The kids are bouncing off the walls. I'm gonna grab them, head into their room, turn on the radio, and see if some one on two time settles them a bit.

Catch you folks when they are in bed.

Benji has a cold too and it doesn't slow him down a bit.. he gets more active when he gets sick like this, cause he doesn't feel good and he starts moving and moving and he doesn't quit. On top of that he also gets very whiny... not a good combination.. he keeps me on my feet when he's sick that's for sure. they only time he slows down is when he's really sick, like having a high fever or stuff like that.

Had to add something... while I'm writing this, Benji (who is still up) is standing on my desk taking pictures of himself with my digital camera. If I ever figure out how to put one on here, I will have to post it. So far I haven't been able to find where it tells you to insert yet without having a url.

Hmm... I thought I had explained it well. But it's hard, sometimes, to explain something when you already know how to do it, you know? Could you post on the thread with the instructions where it gets confusing? I'll see if I can clarify more.

Thanks,

Just got home. Spent the entire evening at a camera club convention planning meeting. Yawn. Not exactly a thrill and there's a whole lot more of them to go.

Just chillin' for a bit before bed. Popped in to say goodnight.

Mornin' folks. I'm taking Jamie to school and then heading down to get a flu shot. It's going to be a very busy day today so probably won't get much computer time. I'll check in when I can.
